Imagine we are all caterpillars
Climbing into our own cocoon
By universal ordinance
We must hang in there
Isolating from the rest of the world
Our lives transforming
Accepting the unseen and sacrificing
Suffering the pain of loss
Churning within
Growing empathy for others
Curious and wondering
How caterpillar was thinking
In this stage of transformation?
Did caterpillar know that it will come out soon flying
As a beautiful butterfly?
Now imagine if we all became butterflies
Spreading joy, love, and color
On this earth and in each other’s lives
Dancing together around the globe!

My calligraphic work attempts to celebrate the same message of universality spread through verses in Arabic calligraphy and in the poetry of Rumi. Read More
