Sewing Together Humanity, Soil and Soul

“Sewing Together Humanity, Soil and Soul” is created on Korean Hanji paper 30”/60” with Rust, Acrylics, Oil Pastels and then I tore it off in three panels separating humanity, soil and soul. And now I am stitching these together with jute twine symbolically. The humanity on the left panel is moving in crowds, the central panel is our soul reminding the connection with the creator who is Merciful and Beneficent and the panel on the right is Nature, our roots.
In my entire series of works and poems, I am seeking oneness, empathy and compassion for others and attempting to connect all without any differences. My faceless figures in Humanity series speak of universality and give importance to the communion. They share together, rejoice together, grieve together, dance together and pray together. My works in calligraphy bring verses of unity, love and friendship from the Sacred books and my works from Our Earth embrace, all creatures as one community. In my recent works I am moving in the direction of unfolding wisdom from under our earth and bringing lessons learnt from the underground mycelium to the surface of my paintings and poetry.

Whether in paintings or sculptures, the faceless figures in my work represent the universal oneness of all humanity. My calligraphic work attempts to celebrate the same message of universality spread through verses in Arabic calligraphy and in the poetry of Rumi. Read More
